Bassbottle is a Berlin-born producer, DJ and label owner with a long-standing legacy in the harder realms of Techno. A musical force since the late 90s, he combines raw rhythm with twisted energy – somewhere between machine funk and freakshow. His tracks have been played across the globe, supported by some of the scene’s most notorious players.
Born in 1982 in a divided Berlin, Bassbottle’s roots go deep. As a child, he banged on pots and pans before graduating to guitar, choir training and eventually beatboxing his way through school – often mistaken for a walking Walkman. Rhythm was always his obsession. Early exposure to rave tapes from the legendary Bunker Club and commercial Dancefloor records fueled his passion for electronic music. By 1996, he was producing on an Amiga – transforming stored-up melodies into pounding beats.
The early 2000s saw Bassbottle align himself with the sound of Schranz – raw, industrial, relentless – that would later evolve into what many now refer to as Hardtechno. Within this spectrum, he also explored more tribal and groovy variants, shaping a unique sound identity that balanced precision with madness. His tracks gained early traction online, leading to his first vinyl release in 2005 and the foundation of his own label Sonic Speed Records in 2009. A wave of digital releases followed in 2010 – and continued steadily in the years after, establishing Bassbottle as a consistent force in the underground. During this time, Bassbottle played a key role in shaping and establishing what would become known as Melodic Hardtechno – blending driving rhythms with emotional depth, long before the sound became a wider trend.
During this period of intense output, Bassbottle also performed as a DJ in clubs and radio shows, showcasing his dynamic and often brutal selection. He also launched his own podcast series Surgery, where he pushed his raw and hypnotic signature sound to a growing international audience.
Over the past decade, Bassbottle stepped back from releasing music regularly to focus on other creative projects and aliases, exploring a wide stylistic range – from cinematic atmospheres to experimental forms, excursions into pop territory and diverse dance genres. Still, his core remains technoid, rhythm-driven and uncompromising.
In 2025 Bassbottle returns to his roots – but with a matured sound: still hard, still fast, but groovier, deeper, and more hypnotic. It’s not a comeback. It’s a continuation. A raw, focused evolution that blurs the lines between classic Schranz, modern Hard Techno and tribal-driven warehouse vibes.
Whether behind the decks or in the studio, Bassbottle remains a musical anarchist, an entertainer, and a rhythmic obsessive – still banging, still building, still bottle.
